Ron Bauer graduated from Plano High School, Plano, IL in 1969 and attended Waubonsee Community College for two years, majoring in Engineering. His interest in surveying was sparked while working for a surveying firm as a Diversified Occupation (career program) student in high school. He served in the United States Army 1971-1973 receiving an honorable discharge as an E-4. Basic and AIT training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He received his Illinois Professional Land Surveyors license in December of 1977. He has been an active member of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association (IPLSA) NE Chapter for over 30 years, serving most officer positions and is currently on various committees.
