Ron Bauer graduated from Plano High School, Plano, IL in 1969 and attended Waubonsee Community College for two years, majoring in Engineering. His interest in surveying was sparked while working for a surveying firm as a Diversified Occupation (career program) student in high school. He served in the United States Army 1971-1973 receiving an honorable discharge as an E-4. Basic and AIT training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He is an active member of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association (IPLSA) NE Chapter, and has been for over 30 years, serving as treasurer two years, secretary one year, and is currently vice president.
